Water protection in Baden-Württemberg

Good water is not to be taken for granted, but something we all need to protect and maintain. Water is something very special: Our Blue Commodity (“Blaues Gut”). This is why the Baden-Württemberg Ministry for the Environment, Climate and Energy launched the initiative of the same name. As an agency, we developed the entire communication for Blaues Gut, including the name, design, concept, signage system, and the blauesgut.de website. In this way, we draw attention to the many activities with which the state is making bodies of water a habitat for animals and plants again, but also for us humans. The basis for this is the European Water Framework Directive (WFD) and the plans and programs developed specifically for Baden-Württemberg.

KICK-OFF WITH MINISTER UNTERSTELLER

The initiative was launched on Thursday, 10 September 2020 on the Rems River in Winterbach. Here you can directly experience one of the many measures that have already been successfully implemented. And, as Minister Untersteller emphasized at the on-site meeting, “only those who know and love their waters will support us in our work.”

The initiative thus aims to make, for example, renaturalization projects tangible for local citizens and provides assistance and incentives for local authorities to implement subsidized measures on their own bodies of water. The launch of the initiative was widely covered by the media, including SWR Aktuell (from minute 8:35):

GUIDANCE SYSTEM WITH DIGITAL COMPONENT

The signage system uses an eye-catching waveform and leads directly to the website blauesgut.de via a QR code, where the projects, enriched with further information and links to other nearby bodies of water can be found.

We are delighted to be involved in this socially relevant project and are thus further expanding our expertise as an agency in the field of sustainability. Our other ongoing projects include, among others: National Natural Landscapes, the UNESCO Biosphere Reserves, and the Balingen Garden Show.
